One of Jin Qiu’s favorite places to play is on the playground!  Here he enjoys running around, sliding, and swinging.  He also likes to jump rope and ride bikes and cars.

Continued Hope for BMH Campers

It’s been six weeks since the last Bring Me Hope camp ended in China.  As we all settle back into our normal routines, it can be easy to forget the little ones we’ve left behind.  That’s why it’s so inspiring to hear about volunteers who have decided to intentionally advocate for their children after camp.

Rob Malloy, a student from Ireland, was a volunteer at the Xi’an camp this year.  Since coming home in August, he has made it his goal to find a family for his buddy, Lei Xiao Feng (Jacob).  With the help of BMH staffer, Kristen Chase, he put together an article (featured here ), YouTube video, and an email asking if anyone would be willing to adopt Jacob.  The response has been incredible! We are confident Jacob will soon have a forever family.

Volunteers and BMH friends, would you take a moment to ask The Father what you can do to help the kids?  It may be writing them a letter, supporting their orphanage, finding an adoptive family, praying for them…  We trust He will show you the way if you ask.  Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for the children!  He does amazing work through His people!

Silas’ Family is Staying Strong!

Silas, Hannah, and her brother are back in their village doing well. The children are both in school and enjoying it. Two of our dear Bring Me Hope friends went to visit them two weeks ago and took the children to the zoo! They had a wonderful time together!

Silas is excited about Dr. Mindea coming to do his surgery. David is in contact with Stanford, coordinating the plans for Dr. Mindea to come to China to preform the upcoming surgery. We are still in awe of this amazing miracle!

We will keep you all informed as details start coming together for Silas’ surgery in Beijing. Until then, would you continue to lift these things up?

1) For the thousands of details to fall into place (the hospital, equipment, flights, hotels, transportation, funding, etc.)

2) For Silas and his children, that their faith and love for Him would continue to grow through this whole process.

Thank you for remembering them! We cannot wait to be reunited with this sweet part of His family!

Hannah and her brother enjoy their first mountain climb!

The Invision Project

Bring Me Hope’s own Kristen Chase has started a project teaching orphans photography!
Last summer ‘The Invision Project‘ took six orphan girls on a photography adventure in Nanchang.

Not only did the girls have a great time, the results they produced were absolutely stunning!

Kristen has started selling handmade greetings cards with their photos! You can find them on sale HERE!
Proceeds will go towards giving other orphans the opportunity to learn photography through ‘The Invision Project’.

Update about all He is doing for Silas and his family!!

Wow, He is doing so much!! The exact details of all He is doing are quite unclear to us at this very moment, but it is undeniable that He is working in so many ways!
We have recently received the contact information of one fo the world’s top neurosurgeons! He works at UCLA medical center and has traveled overseas (specifically to China) to do surgeries! We got in touch with him and his associate. We are eagerly waiting to hear back from them! We do not know to what extent these men will be involved in Silas’ life. But, whatever the capacity (whether they are just more professional consults of if they could be performing surgery on Silas in the near future) we are thankful for them. We are ever looking in to the option of potentially bringing him here to do surgery if the surgeon thinks that is a viable option. We will keep you updated as we hear more!
Thank you to all of you who have donated money towards his surgery and recovery. We are uncertain of the amount we will now need as the direction of the plan is up in the air. We do know that Silas will be getting surgery and funds are still needed! So pray and talk to people about the story of Silas and Hannah and all He is doing and using for His glory!

Update on Silas

To all of our dear friends who have been a part of Hannah’s story by prayer and support. Sorry that an update about Silas’s surgery has been so long in coming to you. The family has been back at their village for about three months now. Silas has been recovering well. It is a slow process of healing but he has been recovering day by day. He is even able to get in his wheel chair and help in the garden which is much more than he has been able to do in the past. The children have been doing well in school. Their school master gave them both some new clothes for the winter and bought Hannah a new winter jacket. It is so neat to watch as the community and local fellowship come together to support this family. God is really taking care of them!

Right now we are planning on the family being back up in Beijing in mid February for physical therapy. We are working on all the details right now with the help of Angela, Hope, and Anna (such amazing sisters who work alongside of us to help this family). It looks like they will be there for about three months or per doctor’s desire as far as therapy goes.

We received these letters from Silas and his brother about a week ago expressing their thankfulness and love for all who have helped them through this hard time. We stood in awe of God’s sovereignty as we read this line in the letter “…We will ask Hannah to join you to help the poor and helpless when she grows up”. When Hannah chose her English name we had no idea that her family would be dedicating her to the Lord for His service, just as Hannah in the Bible dedicated her first born to the Lord. What a beautiful example of God’s hand silently working, even in the choosing of a name. Obviously we do not know what the Lord has in store for Hannah, but we do know that we are a permanent fixture in this families life and we will do all we can to lead each one of them closer to the Father.

We hope you enjoy reading these letters. Please keep the family in your prayers as they venture up to Beijing for physical therapy for about three months. We will keep you updated as we hear from the doctors and Angela. Thank you all again for your prayers and support. God is doing so much and we are so blessed to be a part of it each step of the way.

Letter from Silas:

To all the helpful people at Bring Me Hope camp

My name is Huaifu Ma (Silas). I have fell and hurt my neck nerve then cause me paralyze for more than 3 years till now. Lack of money to treat myself, I have had to stay in bed, and my kids can’t go to school since they had to take care of me. Help for Grace

The Vidler family has been in Xi’an working as doctors and helping orphaned children that have HIV. They are now looking for a long term care giver to help with a little girl named Grace. Here is her story:
Grace is three years old. She has been with a foster care family since she was found at a railway station over a year ago. They recently found out she was HIV positive and though they love her so much they took her back to the orphanage. However the orphanage does not know much about HIV so they sent her to the hospital. She has since been sitting in an isolation room all alone. No one is allowed to enter, even though she is not at all sick. Her foster mother visits her each day and would take her back if she could, but the others in the family will not allow it.
Please join us in praying for a foster caretaker for Grace. No little one should sit in a hospital room all alone. If you or any one you know is interested in going to China to help the Vidlers with this amazing ministry, and fostering little Grace please e mail Sam and Julie at julesam5@gmail.com

Sweet letter from a former camper who has since been adopted!!

Here is a letter written from a former camper. She came to camp in Jing Gan Shan, Jiangxi in 2006. She has since been adopted and lives here in the States. What a happy new beginning for this beautiful little girl. It is such a blessing that we were able to be a part of her amazing journey. Thank you Danielle for sharing your heart with us.

Bring Me Hope means a lot to me!
When I was in China, they brought us hope and took us out to play and see a different world. We spent one week at camp, and it was so fun! The first day we arrived there they put us kids into a group so we had a group game that we could play. They also gave me an English name, and my first English name given to me was Joy. They gave it to me because I love to smile and laugh a lot.
More days passed by and we went to so many places! We went swimming, bowling, ping pong, etc. It was so fun to be with them. We had a blast time together, and they changed my life.
When I was little my parents abandoned me in a street. Then I thought no one would love me and all I did is hate people. So when I spent a week with Bring Me Hope, I finally knew outside the world there are a lot of people who love us, and also God. Even though we are orphans, they are always there for us and loved us.
The day we went back home, I treasured all these memories. I love them all so much and want to say thank you for all the time you spent with us! We would never forget it! Always in my heart!
Danielle
