Harold has big dreams. He has voiced how he wants to be a policeman when he grows up. For now, as a 12 year old boy, he enjoys spending time with friends. When he is around others, he opens up his mind for learning as he is a very curious child.

He enjoys sharing experiences and stories with his friends. The things that he learns are passed onto others as he likes teaching things that he knows and understands. At Bring Me Hope’s  camp, he was seen teaching the other children how to blow bubbles. He was so happy when he learned how to blow bubbles himself, that he ending up teaching other kids how to do the same.

Welcoming affirmation and guidance from the people around him, he includes others in on what he is doing. Harold willingly invites others to see what he is currently doing whether it is drawing, playing catch or blowing bubbles.

Despite the fact that he is able to do many physical tasks all by himself, he occasionally becomes short of breath due to a heart operation he received when he was younger. This happens during certain physical activities like climbing a few flights of stairs or running around for long periods of time.

However, this does not interfere with Harold’s ability to have fun. Knowing his own abilities, he will slow down if he needs to. At Bring Me Hope’s camp week, Harold communicated that he shouldn’t get into the deeper end of the pool while he and his volunteer for the week were swimming.

Harold is still growing and is not done learning or done enjoying his childhood. He needs a permanent family that will positively influence him; a family to share his life with. There are many questions he has yet to ask, and there are many stories he has yet to tell or experience. If he is not the right child for your family, please consider sharing his story with others as it deserves to be told. His story needs to continuously be passed around until the right family for him should finally find him.
