Night Walk 2010 Recap

PICTURE THIS: Over 1000 walkers, more than 150 child sponsorships, 80 locations around the globe. God moved mightily around the world as we all walked together the night of May 14th. From a small group walking around a dimly lit town square in iowa to multiple families walking alongside tall camels in Australia, everyone was walking for the same reason. To bring hope to the chinese orphan. To open a door for them to experience one week that will change their life. Forever.

Thank you for being the ones to make the difference. Thank you for bringing hope where there was once dispair. Thank you for walking in the dark to the precious children can walk in the light.

”REALLY loved the phone call – hard to describe all the emotions we felt knowing that children were walking all the way across the world in China at the same.  We had some people stop and talk to us (after they saw us praying and huddled together for the call). It was neat to be able to talk with them about Bring Me Hope and the orphans in China!!!!”

"It was a real treat to hear the sweet orphans over in China talking to us on the phone; so encouraging to know they are being contacted through the year and not just in the summertime. Thank you for the opportunity to hear the children and include our family in a great ministry."

”We had a good turnout and a great time was had by all! My highlight was hearing the voices of the kids in China. Cannot wait to see them this summer!”

i want to say thank you for the night walk. I really enjoyed it and also learned a lot from it. Firstly, the kids were from xinxiang which i went on winter hoilday. I longed a long time that they can come to sias to know what college life is, but there had no opportunity becasue it was a little far from xinzheng. Now it became true, i felt so great especially when i saw ther were all very curious and excited about everything at campus. By the way, i am sorry for that i just taught two or three sentences of english. When they hanged on the phone, they were so neverous that they forgot what to say, most of the kids just speaked what occured to them ignoring what the other side said I am so sorry about that.

Secondly i learned to be more faithful. At first, i was worried that maybe the college students would not accept the "crazy idea" because of the diffence of culture, besides they would not be excited about staying with kids. But I was totally wrong. The students were about sixty, but most of the students were with the kids from 10:00am to 2:00 and did not leave until the kids left. At the end of the activity, two of the volunteers gave performances. and the twelve kids gave us two performances in returns, and gave a short speech about how they were happy and grateful and they will study hard so they can also go to college in future. We were touchd by their performance and words. It is so touching out my expectation. I learn He has his plan which we can not know from our own perspective. I am eager to share some pictures about this night walk, but i do have them at hand. I will send to you later.

You don’t have to be a grown up with a job to raise money for the little orphans! Check out these girls in Daisy Girl Scout Troop 944 who raised $21.30 to bring kids to camp in China this summer! They also colored pictures to brighten the children’s lives. Thanks girls! You’re an inspiration!

What Is the Nightwalk?

The Nightwalk is our chance to help orphans in China – a one hour global walk-a-thon that raises sponsorships for orphans to come to Bring Me Hope’s Summer Camps. While a group of orphans walk in the morning in China, people all over the world will be walking simultaneously with them at night. We’ll even have a chance to call them to tell them we care.

Story Behind T-Shirt

"The best thing about Liann was her singing. She knew that one Chinese pop song like my fingers know their guitar strings, and whenever it came on in the bus, she belted out the love-filled lyrics with abandon. Her sharp, off-key voice rose above the other children’s and the noise of the road when she sang, as if it was the only thing that made her forget.

"It all came out on Thursday night. After a subdued conversation in the music of Mandarin, our translator Camilla induced a five-minute story of pain told with such flat candor that it took my breath away.

"I uncapped my pen and flipped to the middle of my notebook, the journalist’s instinct to record taking over. But I couldn’t. I just listened. When she finished, I finally wrote, drafting a note to myself:

"Age 3—parents divorced, sent her to the orphanage. Father was a drunk, beat her. One time, hit her with a chair when she was asleep. Scars up and down her legs from his abuse. This is why she doesn’t trust me."

Check out the awesome artwork for this year's Nightwalk Tee!

"Through a complicated turn of events, Liann eventually wound up in an orphanage, an ironically beneficial change that wasn’t at all fortunate, just less unfortunate. She had never known the love children are supposed to know. She wasn’t orphaned out of a home she remembered fondly, as is the case with some; she went from worst to bad, from scared to lonely, from abused to abandoned.

"So that was the backstory, that was the plot of her. When she sang her song, the lyrics were probably the closest she’d come to experiencing love. But now she knew without a doubt that we cared about her. Liann finally knew real love again."

This summer, Bring Me Hope will help orphans like Liann know tangible love again through summer camps and other programs. By buying this shirt you are helping bring hope to Chinese orphans. Thank you for your support.
